Summary of regulations that govern entry to museums and archaeological sites of Roma Capitale

FREE ADMISSION

Free admission, with special tickets released, is possible, with the exception of the exhibition space of the Ara Pacis exhibition space, the new exhibition space of the Museum of Rome I floor, the new exhibition space of Villa Caffarelli at the Capitoline Museums, the show "l'Ara com'era", "Circo Maximo Experience", and in addition to the special conditions provided in the current rules, for the following categories:

  1. to everyone on the first Sunday of each month;
  2. to residents in Rome and in the Metropolitan City of Rome, temporary residents and students of public and private universities in the city and in the Metropolitan City of Rome upon presentation of the MIC card (12 months from the moment of activation) at a cost of € 5,00;
  3. to citizens resident in the territory of Roma Capitale and in the area of the Metropolitan City of Rome under the age of 18;
  4. to residents in the city of Rome with an income below € 15,000,00, upon presentation of the ISEE certificate;
  5. to all children under 6 years of age;
  6. to EU tourist guides on production of a valid permit issued by the relevant authority;
  7. to EU tourist interpreters when their assistance is required alongside the guide, on production of a valid permit issued by the relevant authority;
  8. to ICOM (International Council of Museums), ICOMOS (International Council on Monument and Sites) members, foreign and Italian cultural institutes (such as the Lincei Academy, the Institute of Roman Studies, the Friends of the Museums of Rome, ICCROM, the Central Institute of Restoration) members, except for the shows held at the Planetarium of Rome;
  9. for study or research reasons, certified by Italian or foreign schools or universities, academies, research and cultural institutes, departments of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities or other offices of Rome City Administration, upon showing a specific request to be submitted to the Superintendent's authorization;
  10. to all visitors in occasion of cultural events in Rome, organized by the City Administration or under an European directive or Ministerial initiative;
  11. to school groups accompanied by their teachers with a list agreed by the head of the institution;
  12. to EU teachers and students of Architecture, Conservation of Cultural Heritage, Educational Science and degree courses in literature or literary subjects specializing in archaeological or art history in philosophy and letters faculties;
  13. to EU teachers and students of Fine Arts Academies or corresponding institutions. Free admission is granted to students when showing a valid certificate of registration for the current academic year;
  14. limited to the Science Museums to teachers and students of the Faculties of Biological Sciences, Natural Sciences, of the degree courses in Biological and Natural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Nature Conservation, Agricultural Sciences, Science for Nature and the Environment, Science Communication and similar belonging to the European Union. Free tickets are issued to lecturers on presentation of a suitable document and to students on presentation of their enrolment certificate for the current academic year (not for Planetarium shows)
  15. to the RomaPass 72h card holders when using it for the first 2 free sites and to the RomaPass 48 h card holders when using it for the first free site;
  16. to students holding a “Student Card” issued by the Provincial Board of the Students of Rome;
  17. to the citizens of Paris, in accordance with reciprocal agreement made when Rome and Paris were twinned;
  18. to prominent guests of the City of Rome Administration during special events;
  19. to visitors with disabilities and a family member or a carer who can prove that they belong to social and health care services;
  20. to blood donors and a companion during the Summer Blood Donation Campaign, presenting a thank you letter (for the bloodletting) issued by the Municipality of Rome;
  21. to employees of the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage of the City of Rome, as well as to archaeologists, art historians and architects of the Archaeological Superintendence of Rome, the Superintendence of Monuments of Rome, Rome Museum Complex, requiring access for study or research reasons, upon presentation of their personal badge; subject to formal requests and authorizations by the Capitoline Superintendency;
  22. to journalists upon presentation of suitable proof of professional activity;
  23. to consortium bodies, national and international organizations that perform events in the city of Rome sponsored by the City of Rome Administration or which collect and offer liberal donations in favor of the historical and artistic heritage of the city of Rome upon formal request and authorization by the Capitoline Superintendency;
  24. licensed tourist guides are entitled to free admission to the museums of the Municipality of Rome and to the exhibitions also organised by private entities in the Municipality's facilities, either as guide accompanying the group, or for single visits for self-education purposes, but in this case only one admission per exhibition
  25. participants in educational and training activities in the halls and museum spaces where such activities take place;
  26. group family rate – Full nonresident per adult applicable for one and two adults plus children under age 18 (purchasable at the ticket office or through 060608).

Concessions

Concessionary fares, for which a special ticket is issued, is allowed for all museum and archaeological sites, with the exception of the Ara Pacis exhibition space, the new exhibition space of the Museum of Rome I floor, the new exhibition space of Villa Caffarelli at the Capitoline Museums, the show "the Ara as it was", "Circus Maximo Experience", Planetarium of Rome at the Museum of Roman Civilisation, for the following categories

  1. non-residents visitors aged between 6 and 25;
  2. teachers of state and city schools with permanent contracts;
  3. Bibliocard holders when showing the Bibliocard;
  4. for promotional initiatives, aimed at tourist, cultural and sport promotion;
  5. ATAC and Metrebus annual pass holders;
  6. to the RomaPass 72h card holders when using it from the third site onwards and to the RomaPass 48 h card holders when using it from the second site onwards;
  7. for groups of at least 20 people;
  8. reduced rate of 50% for non-residents visitors every Wednesday in the last two hours of each museum opening hour.
